Commando sits along the winding road that leads from the beautiful village of Mellieħa, through the lush valley, and down to Ghadira Bay. Nestled within a tastefully-restored 300-year-old building, Commando boasts a proud culinary tradition dating back to the wartime 1930's. The restaurant’s ambiance has inherited the original building’s cosy charm, which has been further accentuated by a non-invasive and tasteful decor.
Even on the busiest of days, our small team operates smoothly and in perfect coordination, like a finely-crafted timepiece. The menu is carefully assembled to represent both the traditional and the experimental, presenting a variety of delightful tastes, textures and colours, while daily specials add a sprinkle of excitement and novelty for regulars.
In 2024 Commando was awarded by the Michelin Guide with a Bib Gourmand for the fifth year running, making it one of just five restaurants in the Maltese Islands to hold this distinction. To be considered for a Bib Gourmand, Michelin inspectors seek out restaurants that offer an exceptional quality of food at a more approachable price point. Since 1997, "good quality, good value restaurants" have been highlighted using the Bib Gourmand award.
